Remedial/Recoup Classes and SLM (Self Learning Material)

Special Care is taken by the University in monitoring the performance of slow learners. As facing Academic difficulty and failure in certain subjects are the most common reasons for the students to drop out the studies, eventually losing the confidence. Hence, Academic Support in this scenario assists slow learners in achieving their educational goals by providing the academic support through recoup/remedial classes and self-learning material. Student can opt amongst the available support services depending upon their need and time they can invest in for preparation of a particular course.

  • Remedial/ Recoup Classes:  The initiative of conducting these classes is taken to bridge the gap in student learning due to unanticipated circumstances during regular classes and to provide an opportunity to students to revise the tough topics of syllabus.
Remedial classes are offered for the short duration for specific courses planned prior to the date of scheduled Reappear exam, to provide an opportunity to the students to prepare for Exams. The remedial classes conducted by the university preferably for students who were not able to score well in their End Term Examination. These classes have specially been conducted with faculty members who have taught the course at least twice in the previous terms. For a particular course the number of remedial classes are either spread over 7 days with 14 lectures or with 25lectures before the Reappear exam excluding Saturday, Sunday and Holiday with maximum of 2 lectures in a day.
Innovation in Remedial Class Model is done as conduct of Recoup classes  specially designed for first year students during the pandemic period who have taken late admission due to pending entrance / qualifying exams, or were not able to attend classes regularly  due to prolonged leave medical emergency or any other valid reason, have now being given an opportunity to cover their missed syllabus via Recoup Classes by keeping into mind that it shall serve the purpose of providing final push for students to brush up their lessons.
  • Self Learning Materials: University also provides Self learning material to the students to embark on Self-directed learning. Since students may already be engaged in attending their regular classes therefore attending extra classes for all of the required courses, will be difficult for the students at single point of time, hence an alternative approach where a student can make a balance between attending classes and to follow a Self-directed learning approach has been provided.
For preparation of Self Learning materials, courses in which the failure rate in considerably high in previous 2 years have been identified and it has been prepared keeping in view the following points:
SLM of a particular course is self-sufficient and self-explained so that a student does not hunt for the additional sources and are able to comprehend the same.
Additionally, there is a provision for self-assessment as well so that the students can know whether they are on the right track. It is in the form of self-check questions, exercises, worksheets, etc unit wise.
