Maximising the Potential of Distance Learners

Lovely Professional University (LPU), through its Distance Education Programmes, is catering to the needs of students, professionals, entrepreneurs, home-makers and self-motivators, who choose to learn remotely, providing them with a platform to upskill and increase their productivity, with the use of cutting-edge technology. The mission is to provide affordable and accessible quality Education for augmenting the academic value and skills of higher education aspirants. In 2022, the focus was on maximising the potential of Distance Learners by further strengthening the provision of equal opportunities to Distance Learners, which are at par with students on Campus. The following strategies were used in this respect:


Curricular and Co-curricular participation for wholesome development: LPU Distance Learners were provided opportunities at par with conventional mode students to participate in the university’s academic, cultural and Sports events. Students not only participated along with students from national and international regular students but also excelled in many such events like the Inter-school competition on Sustainability, One India mega event celebrating Indian diversity, Inter-school Badminton and Chess competition etc. Events where Distance Learners prominently participated in 2022 were: One India – Celebrating Diversity, Inter-school Youth Fest – SPECTRA, Inter-school Badminton and Chess Competitions, Online Cricket Quiz on T20 World Cup, Maha Vikas quiz series of the Government of India, Inter-school Competition on Sustainability, Cultural event for Welcoming National Accreditation team etc.

Professional Enhancement Programme (PEP): In order to inculcate the desired skills and competencies essential for enhancing the employability and entrepreneurial potential of Distance Learners, a comprehensive Professional Enhancement Programme, involving online as well as on-campus Workshops and Special Classes by the professionals, was conducted on different aspects like Improving Communication Skills through Print Media, Perfect fit Career Counselling, Preparation for State Public Service Commission Banking and Exams, Guide to start up, Building own web world etc.

Master Classes: Specially designed master classes by experts from academia and industry on various aspects like Employment Opportunities in the field of language translation, Fundamentals of Sociology, Delving into the mind, Library Classification Systems, Regional languages, Computerization etc. were conducted for the academic enrichment of Distance Learners belonging to various discipline.

Placement Support: The university provided placement opportunities to its Distance Learners at par with the conventional mode students. In the year 2022, more than 20 virtual as well as on-site placement drives were conducted for Distance Learners involving companies from various sectors including Marketing, Sales, Banking, IT etc. to provide them with their dream jobs. More than 1000 learners availed of the placement opportunities. Major drives conducted in the year 2022 were by the companies like V5 Global Services Pvt. Ltd., Avon Cycles, Airtel, Tata AIA Insurance, Bharti Consultants, Tech Mahindra, Steelco Industries, Wartiz Technologies, Star Health etc.

Enriching LMS: Learning Management System (LMS) - LPU e-Connect created for Distance Learners was further enriched with cutting-edge technology providing them seamless 24x7 access to quality academic resources including a fully equipped e-Library providing access to thousands of quality journals, periodicals and books. Personal Contact Programme (PCP) – During the course-wise online PCP classes by the expert University faculty, students got the opportunity to interact LIVE with their Professors and peers. The strategies helped the academic, professional and social development of Distance learners proving to be life-changing for some of them. In 2022, more than 19000 students registered for the Personal Contact Programme, 1000+ learners availed of the placement opportunities, and 800+ participated in various Professional Enhancement and Co-curricular activities resulting in wholesome development.
