COVID – 19 AND STAFF CARE @ LPU

At Lovely Professional University, we believe that human resources are our one of most vital and valuable resource, basis of which, the well-being of the staff members is paramount to us when it comes to staff care and well-being, especially during this era of Covid-19.


Steps taken for staff during Covid- 19
a) Work from Home option and “My Class” Platform.
The Covid-19 guidelines were adhered to as issued from time to time. Adequate space was made available to staff members for distant seating and the option of work from home helping staff members to perform their tasks from the safety of their homes via specifically designed “My Class” Platform for online teaching & learning.
Sanitization at various areas and offices was undertaken regularly and facility for hand sanitizers were provided liberally at offices, near washrooms, lift areas, pantry and public areas to name a few.

b) Awareness Drives and SessionsRegular awareness sessions of staff were conducted covering varied topics ensuring the physical and psychological well-being of the staff like sessions on hygiene practices, enhancing immune system, Covid-19 protocols and myths. At the onset of pandemic, medical teams were deputed for weekly medical checks of all individuals living, working or studying on the campus. To name a few.

  • Workshop on Usage of EXCEL for Database Management.
  • Diet Management for boosting immunity amidst Covid-19.
  • Workshop on Effective handling of Telephonic Queries of Distance Learners.
  • Seconds Away from Success-Time and Workload Management Skills.


c) Vaccination of Staff Members.
Prioritizing the safety of staff, all eligible staff members of the University were provided with both the doses of vaccination including Covishield and Covaxin provided free of cost to the staff via various vaccination camps. The drives were carefully coordinated ensuring that Covid-19 precautions were duly considered.

d) Ensuring essential commodities.
In order to ensure that the faculty and staff are motivated and puts in their best efforts towards academia, research and other spheres, provision of the basic and essential commodities during lockdown for campus residents was ensured.

e) 24x7 Operational University Hospital and help-lines.
The Hospital of the university stays operational 24x7 with fully operational Quarantine and Isolation centres. On-campus ambulances ensured mobility in case of need and help Lines catering to medical assistance, psychological well-being, ESI and Mediclaim.

f) Medical Insurance Schemes; Employee State Insurance and Mediclaim.
Health Coverage via ESI and Mediclaim of the staff members via Employee State Insurance (ESI) and Mediclaim as per applicability. All staff members not eligible for ESI were covered under Mediclaim and personal accidental insurance. The HR team ensured continuous liaising with the hospitals right from admission of a staff till his/ her discharge.

g) Psychological Counselling.
In order to promote mental health & wellbeing, the University had a dedicated team of professional psychologists available via online and offline modes who catered to the counselling needs of staff members. The psychologists had been of major help especially amidst the Covid scare, thereby offering ways to address anxieties and lessen distress through such therapy.
