Lovely Professional University (LPU) is dedicated to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) by fostering sustainable economic growth, decent work, and productive employment for all in line with India’s vision to become a developed country, “VIKSIT BHARAT” by 2047.
As India embarks upon its journey, the National Institution for Transforming India - NITI AAYOG emphasizes upon a monitoring tool ‘SDG India Index’ which seeks to encourage healthy competition at the sub-national level between states and union territories. On similar lines by adopting the principle of ‘Localization’, Lovely Professional University launched project SUSTAIN in the year 2022-23 and monitors its performance through Outcome Based Planner which depicts the relative performance of schools and departments of the university. Through the implementation of the project "SUSTAIN," LPU has integrated various initiatives aimed at enhancing quality of work-life and economic opportunities across its community. LPU offers comprehensive staff welfare and student support frameworks, encompassing extensive residential facilities, childcare centers, and the Uni-Center shopping complex, all designed to support a well-rounded campus life, flexible work arrangements, reward and recognition practices, measures for physical and psychological wellbeing.
LPU promotes inclusivity through its universal employment and high-performance culture, emphasizing gender, regional diversity, and merit-based recruitment practices. In support of lifelong learning, in the year 2022-23 Human Resource Development Center organized 187 professional development programs (an increase of 50 % as compared to 2021-22) benefiting 7098 faculty members, staff, students and external participants (29 % more than the previous year). Additionally, initiatives like "Earn as You Learn" empower students through practical work experiences, while LPU’s entrepreneurship programs offer incubation and mentorship for aspiring innovators. With significant investment in research funding, scholarships, and financial aid, LPU not only drives academic excellence but also uplifts underprivileged sections, making quality education accessible to all. These efforts collectively underscore the university’s unwavering commitment to fostering decent work and economic growth, as envisioned by SDG 8.
Through the comprehensive initiative of promoting sustainability in everything we do, we have been able to achieve certain milestones:

• The Outcome Based Planner 2022-23 gave a clear performance roadmap to team LPU and helped to focus the investment of efforts towards tangible outcomes.
• 22 faculty members were recognized globally among the top 2% scientists as per Stanford University, USA.
• LPU student contingent participated and brought laurels to India in Paris Olympics 2024 and Paralympics 2024.
• LPU delegates in USU Syllabus Training Program as a part of ERASMUS+ program
• HRDC organized 187 professional development programs benefiting 7098 faculty, staff, students and external participants.
• Multiple campus recruitment drives resulting in full time employment of 7241 students and internships of 10801 students.
• Rs. 12,68,58,885 sanctioned as research funding to 1014 faculty members of Lovely Professional University
• An amount of Rs. 2.25 crores was awarded to recognize the scientific contributions of the faculty to honour the achievement of 115 faculty members.
• Incentive amount of Rs 338.67 lakhs was disbursed to 1517 faculty and staff members.
• Rs. 67,32,250 was given as fee waiver to the faculty, staff and their dependents, thus benefiting a total of 232 LPU associates.
• Merit scholarships were awarded to 12077 Freshmen students.
• Numerous staff engagement activities to celebrate personal and professional achievements.
