Partnership for Societal Impact

Lovely Professional University collaborated with for exchange activities and collaborative social work by establishing clear communication channels and mutual understanding between their respective social work departments. Through regular dialogue, LPU identified social problems, shared goals, academic strengths, and resources. Collaborative initiatives such as joint research projects, student exchange programs, and faculty workshops can be developed to enhance cross-cultural understanding and knowledge exchange. Additionally, LPU created formal agreements and memorandum of understanding (MoUs) to solidify the partnership, outlining the responsibilities, expectations, and benefits for both organizations. By fostering these collaborative relationships, LPU created enriching opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers, fostering a global perspective and enhancing the quality and impact of social work education and practices.

LPU Student Organization Tachyons in collaboration with Nivy Care Foundation (NGO) organized an event "Planet Power Play: Plantation Drive" from April 25th to May 10th, 2023, drawing the active involvement of approximately 70 dedicated volunteers. LPU School of Fashion students visited Trinjan, an organisation that promotes Punjabi craft. There they received hands on knowledge from local craftsmen on hand spinning and weaving techniques!

Transgender Cricket

Lovely Professional University (LPU) is organizing Trans-Persons’ 1st National Cricket Tournament of six days on the campus. Over 100 cricketers from six states of the country are participating to display their cricketing skills no less than others. Participating states are West Bengal, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana.

Collaborating for Sustainable Solutions

LPU has collaborated with NGOs to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to exploit its potential of knowledge and research, resources, expertise, and innovative ideas. NGOs, on the other hand, have grassroots-level insights, practical experience, and community networks. By collaborating, we create a synergy that fosters effective, sustainable solutions for pressing global challenges outlined in the SDGs, such as poverty, education, health-care, environmental sustainability, and social equality. LPU provides research-based evidence and analytical skills, enabling NGOs to develop evidence-driven strategies and impactful programs. In return, NGOs has offered LPU valuable access to real-world issues and contexts, grounding academic research in practical applications. This collaboration not only enriches academic pursuits but also ensures that solutions are culturally sensitive, contextually relevant, and genuinely address the needs of communities, making progress towards achieving the SDGs more tangible and achievable.

Student Volunteering

LPU-NSS Wing has students that has formed many clubs which are consistently engaged in volunteering of activities for social good by participating in community service projects, internships, and volunteer programs facilitated by NGOs, students gain practical insights into the challenges faced by marginalized communities. They contributed their time, energy, and skills toward initiatives ranging from education and healthcare to environmental conservation and poverty alleviation. Through these experiences, students not only learn empathy and social responsibility but also develop crucial problem-solving abilities and leadership skills. The collaborative efforts between students and NGOs foster a symbiotic relationship where the passion and enthusiasm of young minds are channelized toward meaningful projects, making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need and creating a generation of socially conscious leaders dedicated to positive social change. Agriculture students of LPU with local farmers under RAWE programme for knowledge sharing

Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE)
RAWE is Student READY Program that provides exposure to agricultural students to the natural setting and village situations, allows them to work with the farm families, identify their problems, and make use of various extension tools for transferring the latest agricultural technologies. RAWE programme is aimed at providing an opportunity to the students to understand the rural setting in relation to agriculture and allied activities. It helps the students to get familiarised with the socio-economic conditions of the farmers and their problems. The students learn to develop communication skills using extension teaching methods to facilitate interaction and transfer of technology besides imparting diagnostic and remedial knowledge relevant to the real-life situations.

Village Adoption Programme under Community Development Project
This course is offered to students after the first year. The basic course objectives associated with this course include identification of the issues related to community development and to find solutions for improvement; developing skills to promote unique ideas among the public; and aiming to originate substantial and sustainable development that brings about difference in the community at large. Students can complete the community development project with some Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) or local organization(s) working on some community development areas and allowing physical reporting within the organization

Cleaning Sutlej River
LPU NCC is dedicated to community service, organizing impactful programs for awareness and action in association with villages and local bodies. On the eve of Earth Day, NCC cadets planted trees and cleaned the Satluj River as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Social Work: Community Engagement and Outreach

University have led the path uptaking the social responsibility to engage with their local communities, by collaborating with local, regional, national bodies both NGO and Governmental, to organize awareness campaigns, workshops, and seminars, universities can educate the public about sustainable living practices. The essentail aim of community outreach programs was to address challenging sustainable issues such as clean energy, water conservation, waste management, and environmental conservation.

NHAI Collaboration

LPU partnered with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Govt. of India undertaking to develop local and regional parts and areas maintaining cleaniless, shown below. This collaboration have improved cleaniless, creating green belt on highways and helps promotion of Sustainable Cities and Communities

Municipal Corporation, Udaipur

LPU’s outreach initiative in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by the students of Architecture focuses on the proposed expansion of the sewerage system, examining treatment capacity improvements, enhancements to pipeline network, and planning for future developments and addressing the deficiencies in Clogged Drainagey.

Development of Educational Resources

LPU has developed many educational resources to achieve sustainable development goals and this educational material addresses global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. They can develop open educational resources, online courses, and multimedia materials that are accessible to learners worldwide, breaking down barriers to education. Additionally, LPU invested in faculty development and training programs to enhance teaching methods and promote interdisciplinary approaches, ensuring that students were equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle complex sustainability issues. Through these efforts, LPI contributes significantly to the achievement of sustainable development goals by disseminating knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and inspiring future leaders to make a positive impact on the world.

Research Programmes

Research Centre on Environment and Climate Science:

Lovely Professional University, Phagwara has a dedicated centre of excellence “Green Engineering” under Research & Development Cell that works on the green technology, alternative technology, green nano technology, and computation technologies. To ensure that the concept of environmental sustainability is inculcated in the UG, PG, and PhD students/scholars, following measures are taken.
