At Lovely Professional University (LPU), we are committed to eradicating poverty through a range of impactful initiatives aimed at empowering individuals and communities. Our efforts align with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1) to reduce poverty in all its forms. Here's how we are contributing:

LPU fosters an entrepreneurial culture by providing pre-incubation and incubation facilities to support aspiring entrepreneurs. Our pre-incubation center helps students and budding entrepreneurs develop and validate their business ideas, offering mentorship, resources, and guidance. Once their ideas are ready, our incubation center provides structured mentorship, state-of-the-art resources, and support for building sustainable business models. Through these initiatives, we empower individuals to create self-sustaining enterprises that contribute to poverty reduction by generating jobs and economic opportunities.

LPU offers a variety of credited and non-credited courses in entrepreneurship to equip students with practical skills needed to start and manage successful ventures. Our Accelerated Incubation Program, STARTaTHON events, and the Indian Entrepreneurship Conclave (IECon) provide further platforms for students to innovate, collaborate, and launch their startups. These programs aim to reduce poverty by promoting economic independence through entrepreneurial success.

In our effort to financially support students and reduce their economic burdens, LPU’s 'Earn While Learn' program offers part-time job opportunities within the university. This initiative allows students to gain valuable skills and work experience while earning an income to support their education. By providing financial stability, this program directly addresses poverty and fosters self-sufficiency among students.

To ensure equal access to education for students from all economic backgrounds, LPU offers extensive financial aid and scholarships. We provide scholarships for students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and other special categories, ensuring that financial challenges do not become a barrier to achieving academic and professional success. This support is a crucial step toward eliminating poverty through education.

LPU actively supports local farmers through our Farmer Technology Innovation Incubation Activity. By offering modern farming tools and knowledge, we empower farmers to increase productivity and economic sustainability. Through the DISHA Career Counseling & Development initiative, LPU provides comprehensive career guidance to students, educators, and institutions in the education sector. LPU is committed to addressing poverty through sustainable livelihood initiatives. One such program is the 'Joy of Giving' campaign, where volunteers from LPU's NSS unit distribute essential items such as clothes, food, and sanitary products to underprivileged sections of society.
