Purpose: This financial aid scheme aims to honor the sacrifices and dedication of our brave defense and CAPF personnel by ensuring their wards receive financial assistance for their education, encouraging academic success across generations.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for this financial aid, applicants must fulfill the following criteria

  • Service Status: The applicant’s parent must be a serving or retired member of the Indian Armed Forces, CAPF, or allied organizations.
    • Defense Forces: Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard.
    • Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF): Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),Border Security force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guards(NSG).
    • Additional Forces/ Organizations: Railway Protection Force (RPF), Special Frontier Force (SFF), Assam Rifles, Border Road Organization, General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Military Engineers Service (MES), Defence Security Corps (DSC), Ordnance Factory Board.
  • Gallantry Award Recipients: Acknowledge the gallantry award recipients by offering higher financial aid, as mentioned.
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must meet the general admission criteria for their chosen programs of study at the university.
  • Nationality: The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Financial Aid to Defense Personnel and their Dependents

The financial aid mentioned below is for all regular programmes only (Distance and Online learning programmes not included).

*Eligible students will receive an additional 20% financial aid on the remaining fee after deduction of the scholarship. Students availing any other financial will not be eligible for additional benefits.

  • Eligibility Relaxation: A relaxation of 5% in eligibility will be given for all categories and programmes (Diploma, Programmes after 10+2, Programmes after Graduation etc.) except for programmes where certain regulatory bodies have imposed minimum eligibility conditions.
  • All the serving officers (from all the forces covered under this policy), who are willing to take admission in LPU through study leave will be exempted from entrance exam and interview conducted by LPU (Except Ph.D. & LLM programmes and any other programme where eligibility test is compulsory as per the regulatory authorities.)
  • Scope: The financial aid is available for all regular full-time undergraduate, postgraduate,Ph.D., and diploma programs offered by the university. It is not applicable for distancelearning or online programmes.
  • Application Process: The last date of application will be till the last date of admission.
  • Documents to be submitted: The applicant is required to submit following documents:
  • For Serving Personnel: The color scanned copy of the following documents required:
    • Application Form for Defense and CAPF
    • Service ID Card (with Service No.) or Certificate Serving Certificate from Commanding Officer of Unit currently posted to with seal
    • Relationship Certificate with photograph and stamp or Dependent Card
    • Gallantry Award Certificate with copy of Gazette
    • Additional Document: Canteen ID Card
    • Additional Document: 10th Marksheet and Eligibility Qualification Marksheet
    • Any other document required by the committee from time to time
  • Officers on Study Leave: Additionally, the officials need to submit the Study Leave and/or Bonafide Certificate from Respective Directorate of Education, Delhi
  • For Ex-servicemen: The color scanned copy of the following documents required:
    • Application Form for Defense and CAPF
    • Ex-Servicemen ID Card (with Service No.)
    • Pension Pay Order (PPO)
    • Discharge Book (Pages containing Personnel’s and Dependents photographs and details)
    • ECHS ID Card (Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme)
    • Gallantry Award Certificate with copy of Gazette
    • Additional Document: Canteen ID Card
    • Additional Document: 10th Marksheet and Eligibility Qualification Marksheet
    • Any other document required by the committee from time to time
  • Application Submission
    • Color Scan all the relevant documents
    • Fill the details in the application form (Application for Defense and CAPF Financial Aid-2025)
    • Submit the application along with applicable documents through an email to financialaid@lpu.co.in. The subject of email must have: Application for Defense and CAPF Financial Aid – name of Applicant.
    • In case an applicant is visiting University campus or designated offices of university in various cities, the scanned copy of application and applicable documents to be emailed at financialaid@lpu.co.in by the university official or by applicant before the due date.
    • The application can be submitted before or after taking admission.

Note: The applicant should clearly mention details/ information pertaining to the scheme and scanned documents must be readable.

Selection of Application: The application will be selected based on first come basis on or before the last date of admission subject to availability of the seats in programme.

Result Declaration and Intimation: The result of applications will be communicated individually through an email within 7-10 working days from date of application marked complete. Financial aid will be updated after verification of all the documents and on completion of formalities pertaining to admission.

  • Insufficient information or incomplete documents will make applicants ineligible and such applications will not be processed/ presented before the committee.
  • Other Terms and Conditions: All other conditions as mentioned under the head “Terms & Conditions for LPU-Scholarship, its different phases” in Part-B of Prospectus or on university website will also be applicable.

Disbursement of Benefits: The financial aid benefits will be directly awarded to the student’s fee account, reducing the amount payable as per the approved financial aid within 10 working days from date of application approved by the university.

I am expecting to get around 60% marks. Will I get any scholarship?
LPU offers a variety of scholarships to support all deserving candidates. A candidate can get scholarship on the basis of one’s performance in LPUNEST or on the basis of other scholarship schemes offered by university like based on the score in qualification previous to eligibility qualification, performance in sports, cultural, R&D, co-curricular, social service, bravery awards or performance in national level tests like JEE (Main), NEET, UCEED, CAT, MAT, GATE, GPAT etc. For details visit Scholarship Schemes.
